Jakarta Fair (Pekan Raya Jakarta) 2012

Happy birthday Jakarta! the age is now 485 years old already! Every year, Jakarta always held a huge event called Jakarta Fair or Pekan Raya Jakarta as one of the events to celebrate Jakarta's birthday. See the other event: Palang Pintu Festival at Kemang.

As I said, Jakarta Fair is a yearly event, and it lasts for a month, from June to July. This year, Jakarta Fair starts from June 14 until July 15. They have a lot of stand/booth. food booth, automotive booth, beverage, electronics, to the ethnic and traditional booth who sell many traditional stuffs from the islands and provinces through Indonesia.

They also have play ground, a ghost house, and another important entertainment, is the stage. Different guest stars are performing every day on the stage. Say like Agnes Monica, Ungu, Changcuters, Glenn Fredly, and many more. And to watch them? it's free! we just have to buy the entrance ticket to the Jakarta Fair for Rp 20.000 in the weekdays and Rp 25.000 in the weekend.

That day i and my cousin were experiencing Jakarta to the max. We went to Jakarta Fair by bajaj, from Matraman to Kemayoran, we paid about 30.000 rupiahs.

Actually, this is my second time to go to Jakarta Fair. my first time was on 2009. And for my cousin, it was her first time hehehe. Our side purpose to go to Jakarta Fair was to visit Kompas booth, because my cousin was the member of Kompas Muda, and we were invited to join the talk show that was held at the booth. The talk show was about an expedition to volcano mountains in Indonesia.

After visiting Kompas booth, then we went to walk around Jakarta Fair. My favorite of going to Jakarta Fair is to buy culinary. yes, foods! hehehe i love to eat and taste many kinds of food :p
We bought chicken meat snacks, burgers, milkshakes, snacks, coffee, and many more. Jakarta Fair has soooo many food stalls, so once you go there, you will have many options to eat until you confuse. hehehe

There were indoor and outdoor booth in Jakarta Fair. The food stalls i mentioned above, located in the outdoor. There were automotive booth too, such as motorcycles and cars. After we ate enough for our tummies, we continued to the indoor hall. There were traditional booths that sell things from all over Indonesia. The booths were named by their origin. From Jogjakarta, Kalimantan Timur, and so on. There were also electronics, furnitures, clothes, accessories, automotive spare parts, until computer stuffs such as flash disks, mouses, laptops, etc. in a cheap price.

After that, we went outside again to watch the guest stars performing on the stage. Unfortunately, we didn't see celebrities. When we were in front of the stage, there were some bands performing but we didn't know who they were. hehehe

Jakarta Fair opens from 4 PM until 11 PM. When it was almost 11 PM, people were going to go home and the booth were beginning to close. So did we, we walked out heading home, but never forget to buy kerak telor first. There were more than 40 booths of kerak telor. So you wont have to run out of kerak telor :)

That was my review about Jakarta Fair. My opinion, if you visit Jakarta in June, you really should go here to Jakarta Fair. Feel the ambiance and shop many cheap stuffs till you drop! :)
